The Powerforce plus line of harmonic balancers is
intended for racing applications or high performance use. These balancers are a less expensive solution for high performance street applications.
Every 90000 series balancers meets SFI Specification #18-1 which means they are accepted for all racing organizations that require certifications on balancers.
As with many other high grade dampers, these dampers are made of tough 1045 steel which has a tensile strength of 100,000 psi and a yield strength of 90,000 psi with an elongation of 12%.
Additionally the high temperature elastometer that is used is 'Super Compressed.' This is to provide additional integrity to the unit as a whole and also eliminate any outer intertial ring rotation which, if it occurs, moves the top dead center mark from its true position, a common occurence with stock balancers.
'Super Compress' is a unique process that is used in the assembly of the ring to the hub. These balancers also include a design feature that prevents the outer ring from flying off in the event of failure. The Powerforce Plus balancers are tuned to provide maximum balancing in the 6,500 to 7,500RPM range. They can safely be revved in excess of 10,000RPM.
This 6.75" diameter damper for 350 Chevy's is a good choice for a reasonably lightweight unit with good balancing. It has 60 degrees of easy to read white timing marks along with engraved timing marks at TDC and every 90 degrees. This balancer is dimensionally the same as most stock balancers for these engines but is made of 1045 steel and is 'Super Compressed' to prevent ring rotation.
